About Shawna

Meet Shawna, a compassionate and experienced therapist dedicated to guiding individuals through their journey of healing and growth. With a solid educational foundation, Shawna earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Drury University, graduating Cum Laude with Departmental Distinction in 2006. She continued her academic pursuit at the University of Southern California, where she obtained her Master's in Clinical Social Work, achieving the prestigious “Dean’s Scholar List” and Summa Cum Laude honors.

Shawna holds a certification in Licensed Clinical Social Work and boasts an impressive 17 years of experience in the field. Over the years, Shawna has worked in a variety of settings some of which include a locked psychiatric facility, outpatient Veteran's clinic, and abroad in Ecuador serving the locals, missionaries and expatriates community. Shawna has also treated a variety of clientele to include Veterans and their families as well as women and children. Currently, Shawna primarily serves women and teenagers seeking help with trauma, anxiety, depression and counseling for bereavement.

Drawing from her diverse background and extensive training, Shawna utilizes an eclectic range of theoretical treatment models and interventions tailored to each client's unique needs and preferences. She firmly roots her approach in Christ and the Bible, integrating Attachment Based Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and the Polyvagal Theory, among others. Additionally, Shawna incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy as needed, while providing psychoeducation on coping and calming skills essential for healing and growth. She emphasizes a holistic approach to treatment, integrating body-centered work and maintaining a trauma-informed lens throughout her practice.

Shawna’s therapeutic style is characterized by her deep analytical thinking, empathy, and compassion. She excels in building rapport with her clients, facilitating important insights and fostering meaningful change. Whether offering practical guidance, exploring spiritual dimensions, or serving as an encourager and coach, Shawna adapts her approach to meet the unique needs of each individual.
